Angelique Hennessy has a
distinction of portraying possibly the hottest serial killer you'll ever
meet.
The 25 year old
model/actress has made waves with her first starring role as the scorned
Michelle Rosen in Jim Hemphill's BAD REPUTATION, earning her Best Actress
at the Eerie Horror Film Festival. The revenge horror film has also
received many accolades from horror film critics as an independent film to
watch, and will be coming to DVD on August 7th.
In addition to acting,
Angelique also is a model with a love for the old style pinup photos of
years past, and uses it to showcase her modeling skills in a way not done
in decades, providing viewers and fans with a taste of how modeling was
done in that time.
Recently, Angelique took
time out of her schedule with her BRASSKNUCKLE BETTYS group to answer a
few questions about BAD REPUTATION, her modeling career, and what's next
on the horizon.
COLONEL'S CRYPT: What started your interest
in acting?
ANGELIQUE HENNESSY: I honestly can't remember. I feel like I've been
doing it since birth.
CC: Do you consider a fan of horror and if so what are your favorite
horror movies?
AH: I love classic horror films. Anything with Bela Lugosi or Lon
Chaney. I'm also a big fan of Asian and Italian horror.
CC: Who are your biggest inspirations?
AH: Nothing to do with horror whatsoever, but my biggest inspirations
are Liv Ullmann, Rosalind Russell, and Carole Lombard, all stars from the
1930s and 40s.
CC: How did you gain the role of BAD REPUTATION?
AH: I actually auditioned for one of the "mean girl" roles, but ended
up
getting called in for the role of Michelle after running into Jimmy
Hemphill at the movies one night. Kismet, I suppose.
CC: What was it about BAD REPUTATION that appealed to you?
AH: The story, first and foremost. Teenage girls are horrible to
each other, and Jimmy was able to express that in an entertaining way.
Also, I love a good girl-power revenge flick! The dialogue really
appealed to me as well. It's incredibly natural, which is almost
impossible to find in a script, especially one about teenagers.
CC: Who is Michelle Rosen?
AH: Michelle Rosen is a sweet, shy bookworm, who goes through something
horrific and decides that she's not going to let those little bastards get
away with it.
CC: The rape scene was very intense. Was that the most difficult scene you
had
to shoot?
AH: It was awful. Obviously, it's a rape scene, it's not going to be
fun
to shoot. But on top of the subject matter, it was also August in Los
Angeles. We were in a tiny little room with no air conditioning. Not only
did I have the three actors on top of me, but the director, camera-man,
and boom operator. Six sweaty, stinky boys and me.
CC: What were some of the biggest challenges you had to endure as
Michelle?
AH: Being duct-taped to a tree for six hours in high heels was a bit
challenging. I think mostly, the whole shoot was just such an emotional
experience. Probably the most emotionally draining thing I've ever gone
through.
CC: In addition to acting, you are also a model. How did you begin your
modeling career?
AH: I sort of fell into it. I started getting offers, so I took them.
CC: You recently modeled as a "Brassknuckle Betty." You seem to have an
interest in the 1940s. What is it about that time that appeals to you?
AH: BRASSKNUCKLE BETTYS is an organization that I created because I
love pinups, and got sick of the onslaught of pinup porn. I wanted to do
something that was a throw back to classic, classy World War II style
pinups. I've always been in love with the 1930's and 40's. I was born in
the wrong era.
CC: On your Myspace page, there are many cool photos from your modeling
career. Which is your favorite and why?
AH: Oh I can't choose. I do love the photos that Mark Wangerin took of
me. Anything that's got an old Hollywood feel.
CC: What other type of modeling have you done? There's a variety on your
Myspace page.
AH: I've modeled for some clothing companies, EC Star being my
favorite. I mostly stick to the vintage stuff, just because I personally
like that the best.
CC: What do you hope audiences will get out of BAD REPUTATION?
AH: I don't expect any major epiphanies, I just hope they enjoy it.
CC: Where do you see the horror genre in the next five years?
AH: Let's hope that the good old R-rated horror flick will make a come
back.
CC: What is next for Angelique Hennessy?
AH: Right now I'm trying to get some
sponsors for the BRASSKNUCKLE BETTYS calendar, and hoping to find another
role as challenging and fulfilling as BAD REPUTATION was.
CC: I leave the last word for you.
AH: If you're in the LA area, come see BAD REPUTATION at the Aero
Theatre on August 12th. There will be a Q&A after. We're also doing a DVD
signing at Dark Delicacies in Burbank on august 11th. If you can't make it
out, the DVD will be available on August 7th.
CC: Thanks for your time Angelique.
AH: You're welcome Scott.
